Here are some of the magic ingredients behind our Gardener’s Hand Balm:

New Forest beeswax from Howat’s Hives

Howat’s Hives started as a hobby over twenty-five years ago for John Howat, then twelve years ago, early retirement enabled John and Jen to buy a friend’s business, so they now have over fifty hives scattered around the New Forest and South Hampshire area.Howats hives

The ‘bee business’ consists of contracting hives of bees to farmers and orchards for pollination and making the most of the New Forest Heather, borage fields and Hampshire’s flora.

Beeswax forms a protective wall by sealing in moisture in our skin without smothering and clogging up the pores. It’s also calming, soothing and is the perfect base for a really effective skin balm.

Hampshire lavender & peppermint oils from Summerdown farm, Hampshire

Mint Situated in the foothills of the Hampshire Downs, Summerdown started growing peppermint in the late 1990’s, later adding other herb crops, such as lavender, dill and parsley.  Once harvested, they use their onsite distillery to turn these wonderful herbs into essential oils.

The clean, intense aroma of pure English ‘Black Mitcham’ mint is stunning and very different to the often harsh-smelling, poor quality cheap imports from China and India. It is, without doubt, the best peppermint oil I have ever used and is soothing and cooling for the skin.

Their certified organic lavender is wonderful too, a really great quality and a beautiful, full, lavender scent. Such a fabulous oil for the skin, nourishing, healing, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory.

Gardener’s Hand Balm also contains:
  • Rosemary Essential oil – regenerating and antiseptic for the skin.
  • Organic perilla seed and sunflower seed oils and organic shea butter to nourish and moisturise the skin.
  • Rosemary extract and Vitamin E as natural preservatives.

Not Just for Gardener’s:

We find that the following people often buy our had balm…..

  • Gardener’s
  • Tree surgeons
  • Builders
  • Nurses
  • Chefs
  • Mechanics

……………..and anyone looking to protect and nourish their skin!

We recommend that it can also be used alongside our Gardener’s Hand Scrub

Use to exfoliate rough or muddy hands. Ingredients include New Forest honey, organic, cane sugar, Hampshire rapeseed oil and Hampshire lavender, Hampshire peppermint & English rosemary organic essential oils.
Apply a little to damp hands, rub hands together and rinse well. Great to use before applying our Gardener’s Hand Balm.
